Going for a holiday to Australia at the end of August, but stopping in thailand for a week on the way and am looking to spend a few days on Phi Phi island, as its meant to be fairly nice. Just looking for any recommendations of places to stay. will be on a budget but would be willing to pay up to maybe €30 a night. 4 lads in late 20s early 30s travelling.

thanks in advance for any advise

Beachfront Bungalow at the Holiday Inn.

Its secluded, remote and difficult to get to and from but thats what we wanted.

Spend 2-3 days there relaxing and visiting the areas surrounding the island. Take a trip to Monkey Beach and do some diving/snorkling.

    Hey,
Id advise not to book anything before you arrive, plenty of deals to be got on arrival!

+1 when you get off the ferry at the end of the pier is a place you can book, no need to do in advance

thanks for the replys, i have been told that there are many people at the ferry offering accommodation , but i just do not want to end up in a complete dump

as its off season there will probably be lots of good deals to be had.

edit - would probably like somewhere close to a few bars

If you are worried about getting a dud of accommodation by waiting til you get there to book I suggest checking out some sites like Tripadvisor or Hostelworld and seeing the standard of accommodation on offer before you get there. That way you might even have the name of your top choices of where you want to stay and will know if you are getting a good deal on the price off the guys at the pier or when doing the research now you might spot a good deal and just book it and get it out of the way :)

Budget wise and fun wise, going by what you wrote, I would definitely advise staying in or very close to Tonsai Bay (the place you arrive at on the ferry).

While places like holiday inn resort are lovely, they are very isolated, and youll pay a pretty penny getting to and from your resort, as well as having to put up with lovie dovie couples everywhere.

Tonsai is the place if you want to get the leg over some dutch backpackers, but its also fairly noisy and dirty if those things bother you.

    cheers !!

i like the idea of dutch back packers :D

could probably splash out a bit on accommodation as am heading to Australia for a wedding, and as the dollar is 1.4 to the euro this will be by far the cheapest part of the holiday.

Phi phi island is very small, when you arrive you will have loads of locals trying to sell you accommodation off the boat, stay away from them coz u will get it much cheaper looking yourself! It's all about haggling!
