    Hi all,

I’ve registered to run the DCM in October but as Mrs.Rook is due to give birth to our first Baby Rook on October 20th she may well go overdue.

I’ve promised that if she hasn’t had the baby by the 25th that I won’t be running the race. So if this does happen, can anyone recommend any other Irish marathons that take place in November that I could go for as a replacement for Dublin?!!

    Cheers!

sorry, only thing I can think to suggest is a hot curry/castor oil/long walk (insert old wives tale of choice here) on the 24th. Would you be able to travel in November, Florence gets great reviews but might get you a divorce?

LOL - I just finished writing a rave review on Florence in the events forum.

There aren't any Irish marathons in November! You will have to cross the water. The Luton marathon in December is often used by those who missed out on Dublin (and who don't mind running 3 loops in dab surroundings).

I was in the same position in 2007 and ran Loch Ness at the start of October instead. Somehow the good lady wife was not entirely comfortable with my suggestion of me running an extra half mile to Holles Street after the marathon if the two big events just happened to coincide. :D

Might be safer (for your marriage) to do an earlier marathon - Longford/Galway/Mooathon/Dingle...?

The Lisbon marathon is on the December 5th and its a lovely city.
Airport is only a €7 taxi ride away. dont think flights are to expensive that time of year.

You should have timed it better. If she hasnt popped watching you run the last few miles will bring it on. At least they will be plenty of hospitals nearby.

DCM passes near the National Maternity Hospital Holles Street, Rotunda Hospital, the Coombe and Mount Carmel. For only €1, you can borrow a Tesco Trolley and bring her with you. You can drop her off along the way if there's any movement. :D
