Teaching Council Reg. renewal/ VEC

This morning I got a letter from my local VEC saying that all Pro-rata. part time teachers had to provide evidence of having renewed their registration with the teaching council.

I rang to ask what evidence they needed and was told that I should call into the VEC offices with my renewal notice for them to photocopy. So now all the p/t teachers are going to ring in to ask the same thing, then we all have to individually go in and get the form photocopied.

Could the TC not use some of our subscriptions to provide the VEC with a list of people who have paid up - just a matter of a printout from a computer I would have thought.

And could they not say in the letter what they actually want us to do?

It seems like a very labour intensive - and disorganised - way of going about things.

All the TC have to do is give the HR manager access to their database so the HR person can do it themselves. But the HR manager wants others to do the their job. While the teaching are so absolutely carp and useless that they would find such a thing impossible to do

Thats true, and indeed they could give us an email confirmation too, so that barring all more efficient processes we could just forward it to the VEC.

i would say from my experience that some of the blame could lie at the feet of VEC staff who sometimes don't exactly want to go out of their way for you.

The TC and their shenanigans are nothing to do with VEC staff.

TC person 1: How about clearing some HR related VEC or Dept of Ed. people to access the list of who is registered?

TC person 2: Oh no, let's make hundreds of people all over the place telephone in and photocopy things and better still, maybe let's make them bring them in to their employers in person instead of posting them.

TC Person 1: Splendid idea, lets' s print it all in two languages on expensive paper and register letters about it to everyone for the craic.

TC Person 2: Must be coffee time now, yes?

yet we can all log into the tc website and look up the register yet they can't give out any more details??
