    Hi all,

I usually use the following products:

    Foundation – Clarins True Comfort
    Mascara – MAC Mascara X

However due to a financial crisis of sorts I am now looking for cheaper alternatives. I am 28 years old and would have quite dry skin, would be looking for fairly good coverage from a foundation (but not something caked on!). Am also looking for a decent facial wash, usualy use Dermalogica products but that’s gone out the window now!! :D

    Any help appreciated!

    Hey,

I'm in the same boat as you can't afford the foundation I used to use but have moved to Loreal True Match. I find it really good! The shade I use is actually closer to my skin tone than my old €35 one!!!

I need som advice RE mascara myself the one I have is terrible. A GOSH one not sure the full name. I used to use Lancome and it really is one of the best imo. I used a Maybeline one before that was very good! Sophie Ellis Bextor was on the ads if thats any use.

And Nuetrogena has some really good face washes imo.

same here - the lovely recession has taken over from my love of labels to love of bargains hahaha (not that funny at times TRUST ME)
Anyway i used to use MAC / Lancome but have found good oul AVON comin in good with their foundation & mascara & actually the nail varnish is the business - i used to use only Jessica Nails (€15 a bottle) - PLUS they always have deals on week after week. The foundation i use is the one in the glass bottle (not sure of exact name) and i recently bought supercurlacious mascara & its great too - brush curved & shorter bristles on one side which i love :)
If by any chance you dont have a rep who delivers brochures to you, you can always enlist as a rep yourself & either sell (& make a few quid too) or just sign up the buy at the cheaper prices...??? :D

gosh is a good alternative to use @ 14.95 , it gives great coverage while only using small amounts each time and it wont dry up your skin. for mascara, try maybelline great lash.
Also recently i purchased a lot of stila makeup , stila is now not availible to buy in shops but websites like brandalley.co.uk & asos.com sometimes sell different brands of makeup cheaply :)

I use Miss Sporty xtra black Mascara and I find it brilliant! I think it's €3.

I've used a brown lengthening one as well which I also really liked.

Also, +1 on Loreal true match! I never usually wear foundation but I wear this if I'm going somewhere fancy. It's really easy to apply, has great coverage and matched my skin tone really well

Thanks guys, where would I get GOSH products? Will try the Maybelline mascara, think I used it before and liked it. L'oreal true match sounds good too!

Any other recommendations for a facial wash? Used Neutrogena before but it dried my skin - I would have failry sensitive skin.

Thanks again for all the ideas!!

    Yep, got it in Boots.

Definitely give it a go, for the price you can't really go too far wrong!

Simple do a foaming facial wash thats really mild and is cheap as chips.

Superdrug do a vitamin E face wash in a sort of beige tube, and its fantastic, really mild and leaves you clean and soft, and its less than 3 euro's.

Telescopic mascara is fantastic at about 14 euro. And Masterpiece is really good too.

I like Maybelline Dream Creamy foundation, but the shade choice is limited. Has good staying power though.

The face wash I use now is Angels on Bare Skin by Lush. It's about a tenner or so but it lasts for ages, seriously. I only need a tiny amount of moisturiser after using it and it doesn't wreak havoc on my skin (weirdly dry and sensitive).

Boots have a 3 for 2 offer on makeup at the moment if you're popping in there.

There's a site called www.saveonmakeup.co.uk that sells cheap makeup. Not much of a selection but they tend to do some good deals every now and then. They always have quite a few mascaras. You have to pay for delivery so it would only be worth it if you were getting a few things.

After 4 years of college I've become the biggest advocate of cheap make-up ever!:) ps i also have quite dry skin!

Foundation: Gosh Xceptional Wear - Great coverage, colour, texture, staying power. Less than 15euro!

Mascara: Total falsies addict dnt bother much with mascara but Maybelline always do good cheap mascaras!

Cleanser/moistureiser: Johnsons BABY wipes/lotion (as moituriser). I can't recommend these enough..they don't dry out your skin like normal expensive face wipes as they are so gentle coz they are made for babies bums :D! They are both as cheap as chips and can be bought everywhere! Brilliant for removing make up and I should know..I work as a dancer so I'm normally caked!! :D

Thanks guys, some great ideas there! So went shopping on my lunch break today. Bought Angels on Bare skin face wash, L’oreal True Match foundation, Miss Sporty mascara and MaxFactor Lipfinity lipgloss.

All for the grand total of €37. This is less than what I would have paid for 1dermalogica face wash so am happy enough.

Will report back with the verdicts!
