Opel Zafira '03

Does anyone know if there was a problem with the '03 Opel Zafira/Astra/Vectra engine? The Vauxhall version was, I believe, recalled in the UK but not the Opel equivalent in Ireland. Has anyone any solid information on this?

Don't think they ever sold the Vauxhall Zafira with a 1.6 litre engine?

Not sure about the Vauxhall version but there is certainly a '03 1.6 Opel Zafira petrol. I was told that there was a problem from the beginning - burning oil I think - and in the UK the cars were recalled and the engine replaced. In Ireland there was a recall also but to repair the pistons. Am not sure if this story is correct but am hoping that someone here will be able to verify it or otherwise.
