    Hi
I would like to now if a ps3 slim especailyy bought in the USA would work in Ireland.

Would I have to get a transformer.

What's the difference betwen NTSC and PAL.

    Thanks.

AFAIK all ps3 games are region free but movies are region coded so you'll need to buy NTSC blu-rays and dvds

Your NTSC ps3 should work on any newish tvs but tvs older than 5 years may not be NTSC compatible unless they are HD which its guaranteed to work. Best advice would be to find out the make and model number of you tv in ireland

I dont know about the transformer question but i would imagine you would need one.

Most Region B Blurays will work but some are region locked.

I don't know whether it will work or not, but what if you had a problem while still in warranty?

Suck it up I suppose. Chances of something going wrong would be very slim.

Loads according to the threads on here about YLoD, BRoD etc. Cases being brought to small claims etc would suggest its a lot more than the 0.5% Sony claim.

A few stories emerging now about freezing issues with the slims. Was in GS last week, and they were testing one the had brought back. Phats didn;t show problems until about 12-16 months in. Just saying a lot of money to pay if you have no comeback.

At which stage Sony replaced mine. What would have happened if it had been Sony USA? No chance.

You may have issues if you want to play online. You may only be able to play on USA servers.

You may have issues with DLC

The DLC isn't a problem since it depends on where the game is from not where the console is from. I assume he'll still be using PAL games so he can just download the PAL DLC from the EU PS store.

I bought the NTSC version of Demon's soul if it had DLC i'd just use my american account to download and play it, you can play any downloaded DLC/games with any user on the PS3 no matter what region.

Also with the online servers I was playing demon's soul on the American servers but that's because it wasn't out in the EU at the time. I suspect it is defined by what region the game is from though, a lot of games have worldwide servers though so it may not be that big of a deal.
