Big drive coming up....

Hi guys, I've a '02 1.6 Laguna with 88k miles on it. I'm planning on doing a drive across Europe in it during August. This will entail about 3.5k miles in the space of a month.

The timing belt was done at 69k and its had regular oil/filter changes since. One ignition coil was changed out about 1k miles ago. The tires are good as well.

Any recommendations on what to get done to it before I go?

Brakes would be an obvious thing to have checked. Perhaps replace the brake fluid and make sure the handbrake is properly adjusted.
Make sure suspension is in good order, no worn bushes or ball joints and 4 wheels tracked and balanced properly otherwise your tyres might not be so good on the way home. Check the jack and spare tyre are both good too.
Gearbox juice level should be ok but check it anyways.

Yes, all 4 coils should been replaced at once!

Carry some spares and learn how to fit them

I'm not sure how many coil packs are on a Laguna, I've seen 1, 2 and 4 on 4 cylinder cars. If one went recently, and there are 2 or 4 seperate coil packs, bring a spare and learn how to change it, it's not difficult.

    Thanks for the advice lads.......
Whats involved with changing a coil? Does it need a specialist tool?

She'll probably be fine fingers crossed.

Don't forget the spare bulbs, the beam benders and I believe you need spare glasses or somerthing weird like that in some EU countries, unless I am totally muddled up (may well be)
