if your car radio has a aux slot buy an aux cable , quality is perfect no worrying about tuning in . no way would i be 99 for that anyway

edit i assumed you were looking for one in the car apologies if not .

Ya it's for the car, I know it's a bit steep tho.... Just bought a new car my last one had an mp3 cd player but this one only has a normal cd player so now I'm restricted to normal CDs, hard going from 100 tracks to 15!

Ideally I'd like an aux input but the cd player doesn't have a jack and I can't replace it because it's part of the dash...

So this brings me to my current predicament, haven't heard great things about fm transmitters in general but it's either that or cycle through a ton of CDs!

sorry if i sound like an audiophile but there's no such thing as a 'best' iphone fm transmitter, they are all ****e.

no matter where you are it's the nature of the fm radio band it will always sound like you're listening to a crappy phone playing music on a loud speaker whilst being incased in a tin box.

if you can get yourself an aux cable, probably can get them off ebay for less than a pint.

my old car 08 vw golf had no aux port on the dash but was inbehind and the radio was built into the dash, do a bit of googling for your car make/model there's bound to be an aux port behind there and even instructions on how to do it yourself.

I purchased this griffin earlier in the year. It's fairly crap to be honest, was driving around New Zealand where there was no radio signal in a lot of places to interfere and it still had problems.

As others have said I think you'll be disappointed with a wireless FM transmitter. Your next best way would be one of those FM modulator gizmos. If you can access the aerial connection on your car radio at all this would be the way to go. It would be constantly connected and powered from the electrics that power the radio and all you'd have showing would be a 3.5mm jack on a lead coming out from somewhere behind your dash.

Ok, I bought a cheapo one on dealextreme a while back there (under a tenner if memory serves). I thought that it was rubbish because it was cheap, but it sounds like that's actually not the case. As CG says, there may be an aux line in hidden at the back. If that's the case it's worth paying someone to put the cable in (if you're not confident in your own abilities). The quality will be *substantially* better than FM for sure (even the best FM transmitter will not approach the level of quality you'll get from a line in).
