Is it called VRT???? It hasn't been registered yet, he says this is done when its sold, but does this mean I'm caught for VRT when they imported it??

Plus anyone know how long the paperwork wil take on this one, as it needs to be sorted from scratch = Registered, then I apparently receive an RF100, this is filled in then car needs to be taxed, and meanwhile it has to go on waiting list for NCT...........lovley:(

i think legally the dealer has to VRT it before selling it to the public but you can also do a deal where you take the car and VRT it yourself.

do I need to ring shannon so before hand to find out how much the vrt is? How much can it be on a 06 Skoda Fabia Combi Estate 1.4 diesel?? Anyone any clue??

    Thanks

have you a link to the car for sale
is it priced similar to irish registered cars? if so then the dealer might be doing it for you, did you ask him?

check the VRT here - https://www.ros.ie/VRTEnquiryServlet/showVRT

Google VRT calculator and you can get how much the bill is. Unless it has some expensive options like leather it should be that figure

Thanks. Just tried to work it out but got stumped on the What month it was first registered so will have to wait and see what dealer says.

Great, more waiting. 14 days to go till holidays. Hope this is all sorted by then, including a new bike carrier for the towbar. Crikey - time flies when your having fun:)

Just use one month between Jan and August and one between Sept and Dec.

There most likely wont be a huge difference anyway between the two but it will give you a good indication.

just use any month, it wont make much of a difference unless it went through a model change during the year.

Ok just tried using June, and it gave me 904 euros!!! Thats alot. Hope the dealer sorts this out. One thing I did notice, but maybe it was just dealer plates, the advert showed the car having an Irish Reg plate - could this just be the dealer putting on anything to get punters in the door?

I would be certain that Blackwater will pay the VRT on this. Most dealers don't pay it until the car is ready to move off the forecourt. Waiting times are negligible.

There is no way a main dealer would not be sorting the vrt for you.
Just when finalising the deal, confirm that it will be on Irish plates with vrt paid.

    I agree wholeheartedly:D

    that's ridiculously overpriced

Buy it from the dealer with all taxes paid, Irish reg plates on it and NCT done. Make it a condition of the sale.

Unless you're looking at a particularly rare or desirable car, you shouldn't have to jump through these hoops if you're buying from a dealer. Let them do the work, let them earn their money.

Didn't want to say that as it wasn't the question, but yes its way way over priced.

Yes NCT will be included. Ok guess I will have to wait now till I meet up with them tomoro, and see what offers come rolling along.

Thanks everyone, will post here tomoro sometime to let ye know the score!

Look its your cash and if your happy with the car and the vrt is paid, nct'd and is offering a back up service well who are we to say anything and i mean that in the nicest way possible. And with your holidays coming, time is not on your side. Try a bit of haggling and tell him you have had a look around and feel its a bit overpriced, he will do something for you, but certinaly make sure he pays vrt its not your problem.

Happy Motoring and enjoy the car and your holidays

I appreciate your comment, thanks, I agree with all ye who said it's overpriced, (by at least 1500), but the last 06 I looked at didn't have all the extra's like air con, sunroof etc, and they wanted 4500 with my own (Skoda Octavia petrol 1.4 Ambiente, so will indeed see what he says. He knows im looking around.

I don't have money or time to waste, so if it's not a good deal, I will leave it till August n see whats on the market then.

Have decided to take the car - tow bar included, NCT booked and paid by them, VRT paid by them €6750, with my trade in.

Its enough, but with aircon and sunroof Im so pleased, and can afford to keep this car for a few years again! Diesel should save me a fortune too!!:D

Hiya, if you'd like to send me the UK registration we can do a history check for you. Better safe than sorry!

You shouldn't really need to with Blackwater Motors, they're a well established and very reputable garage.

it will be on the VLC and it will follow the car for ever :D
the dealer will also have the V5 document from the UK which states the UK reg number.
so when you go to sell it the next owner will know straight away its a UK import.

ps - not saying theres anything wrong with UK imports, i drive one myself.

Good luck with the new car.

They should give you the RF100 when you collect the car, and if you don't fancy waiting in the tax office you can tax it online as it's the first registration in Ireland. Pin number is the last 6 digits of the chassis number.

Only usually takes 2-3 days for the disc to arrive and I'd much prefer that rather than sitting in the tax office for (potentially) and hour or more.

It wasn't in the tax office I was waiting but at the dealer. Thank god I asked about how to turn off parking sensors, as friend told me last night that she could do so with a button underneath the dash. However my car was more complicated (in all took a good 25 mins). If I didn't disconnect them, it would be continuously beeping when the bikes are on the back on the bike carrier!!

At least the coffee was nice:D

Lovely car, delighted with it. Theres no finance outstanding on it, and it has a full Skoda service history. So no hidden surprises down the road.

Im very pleased with the service I got from this dealership. It makes all the difference.

Hi there, copy of the information we have on file below. We have quite a bit of mileage for the car so you should be able to verify its odometer reading.

Everything looks good. Enjoy the car!

No, but found a load of notes in the owners manual section, of work carried out on the vehicle including one major insurance repair to the front end of the car including grill, radiator, wings, lights etc so just wanted confirmation that the car was still structurally sound to use safely.

(Just being paranoid I guess in short!!):D

Well just have a look at it. Is all the paint the same colour, are panels alligned properly, is there any welding done to the chassis etc underneat the body.

Eh...I know the damage may not be bad but did you ask garage about that kinda thing before you bought.

Maybe it's just me but for the money that car was up at it would want to be accident free to be honest...

    +1

as you were originally advised the price of the car was high, so it should be 100% perfect imo.
did you not read through the history before you bought? or even read through the folder containing all the notes?

i know its easy in hindsight, so hopefully it wasnt too badly damaged.
