YOU open the mac , remove the drive, attach to pc using a usb to sata cable, or use a usb to sata enclosure cost 25euro for either.put tape on the drive pcb, underneath to prevent short circuits.
theres sata and ide drives, if mac is less than 4 years old it should be a sata drive.see pic here http://gizmodo.com/assets/images/gizmodo/2008/08/sata33.jpg,
    see here

do not let the drive pcb touch the metal case, i just use plastic tape to stop any short circuits ,as a precaution.
then plug in the drive usb cable into a pc or mac to read the data.
a pc may not recognise the files if the drive is not formatted in ntfs format.
google install drive in macbook ,to get info re how to open a macbook safely.
older drives use ide, so you,d need a usb to ide cable 20euro approx maplins/peats,pc world.

its easier to backup the drive to a mac if you have one.http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/
    see here
free trial allows pc to read mac disk file formats. if you have only acess to a pc.
