    Hi Folks

I decided to post info here about the Clogherhead Prawn Festival 2010 as it is back on the calendar this year after 15 years of an absence and by the looks of things there are still a lot of activities that people are not aware of! The festival will run from 16th to 18th July 2010 in the village.

    Check out the website www.clogherheadprawnfestival.ie

For those of you who just don't want to click the link here is some info.

There is an exciting programme of activities planned, the highlights of which are a bungee jump in aid of the RNLI lifeboats and a World Record Attempt. We will be attempting to break the world record for the most people buried (from the neck down) in sand at the same time. The current record is 342 people, held by the French and with the help of everybody young and old we hope to smash this record on Clogherhead’s Blue Flag Little Strand beach. The sponsored bungee jump will take place on the newly developed harbour in Clogherhead. This will be a full bungee jump from a crane with participants being dropped within inches of the water from the dizzying height of 65 metres height.

On the Saturday and Sunday nights of the festival the car park at the harbour will host the best in live entertainment that Clogherhead has seen for years. A marquee standing high above the harbour below will provide a unique venue for the excellent bands that will play at the festival. The bands confirmed for the festival are Rattle and Hum, Boogie Nights, The Classic Beatles, Big Generator and The Flaws. Completing the excellent night time entertainment will be the Final of Prawn Idol 2010 – a singing competition that has been running since the beginning of May.

Other activities at the festival spread across the weekend are Sailing, Kite Surfing, Canoe and Sand Yachting Demos, Climbing Tower, Try a Dive Diving pool, Hollingsworth-Pulse Aquathlon (Swim, Run), Ocean Masters Distance Swim, Golf Classic, Jet Ski Racing, Power Boating Exhibition, Boat Trips, Folk/History Tent, Body and Soul Tent, Crafters Market Seafood Cookery Demonstrations, Tall Ship and Navy Ship Displays
