Hey guys, I'm booked in for the 12 week blowdry Wednesday week (can't wait!:)) I was just wondering though from anyone who has had it done is it really obvious in your hair for the couple of days before you wash it out. Like does your hair look really greasy/? for the days between when you have the treatment done and when you first wash it. Just thinking for work and that... Thanks guys.

I am booked in for Saturday. I didn't realise it would be obvious though perhaps I should change to next weekend as I have nothing on then? Does your hair look like a big grease ball?

how will you get around the straighener issue. are nt the ones used for the 12 w.b.d much hotter than normal straighteners?

Mate of mine wants to get it done but was told it wasn't possible to do it on her hair cos she's dyed it blonde. She's a natural dark blonde but got colour in it to make it brighter. So is this true? She can't have it done cos her hair is dyed?

As far as I know it can be done on dyed hair. It's recommended that you wait 3 days after colouring and don't colour your hair 2 weeks after it.

Got it done today. My hair is partially dyed blonde, as in it was last dyed 18 months ago. My hair is poker straight right now with no volume but it shouldn't look like that once I wash it out on Tuesday. Can't wait to see the results! I got it done in Dylan Bradshaw and it was a really lovely experience.

e250 as I have very long hair.

Apparently its better when done on hair just as its dyed as it opens the cutcles. if not you must wait at least 2 wks after the treatment to get your hair coloured

Mine was done on Friday. I was suppose to go out on Saturday but my hair looked rotten with grease.

Have to say my hair feels like its in much better condition and less frizzy but it's not 'straight'. Slightly disappointed. Just wondering how other people got on with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,469 ✭✭✭Pythia

I don't think it's supposed to be straight, just far more manageable and much easier to straighten. Less frizzy and more silky. The girl who was doing it to me made it really clear it wouldn't be poker straight after and that only a chemical treatment could do it.

My hair has got quite brittle from dying and is far less manageable than before so I'm above with the above.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39 vwcorrado

Hairdressers can buy it Sally Salon Services, which are around the country.
The straightener that is used is a Titanium straightener, which is 210degrees, same as most straighteners.
my friend got it done and she found that it was much easier to manage as her hair wasn't as frizzy every time she washed it and it always looked straight! she did use the 12 weekend blow dry shampoo and conditioner as well!

Well as I said already my hair is easier to manager and has less frizz. I haven't gone at it with a hair straightner just yet so I'll see how I get one with that.

Although I'm just winginin here because I want to be blonde but can't start the process for another few weeks. boo.

Well she hasn't had it dyed for 3 months now.

I'm out of the shower 45 mins or so and my hair is drying straight in the air. Normally it's wavy. Yeay! Feels very silky too.

Mine isn't drying straight but it's not drying frizzy. Happy with the condition of my hair now.

Anyone with curly hair have any experience with the 12 week blowdry?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 131 ✭✭oohlala

i got the 12 week blow dry online and did it myself. I know it won't be as good as a salon one but it cost 80 euro and comes with the cleansing shampoo and the daily shampoo and conditioner and there is enough for 3-4 applications. So far my hair is really silky and shiney but i only did it today and haven't gotten it wet yet. fingers crossed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭curly from cork

what hair straighteners did you use ? i thought they had to be very very hot to seal the product in. hotter than the ones we use ourselves at home

Where did you get it? I got it done in the hairdressers last year and loved it but can't afford to get it done again as Im jobless at the moment:( I can blowdry my hair straight myself so I would love to get it and do it myself.

i got it on amazon, there is a lot there but not all ship to ireland. The one i chose was a bionaza set. I got it mainly because you don't have to wait 3 days to wash your hair, you can do it the same day. I ordered the hair straighteners on amazon too for 30 euro. They're babyliss ones that go to 430 degrees. Some of the keratin treatments advertised they only need a straighteners of 230 degrees. If you are getting one online i'd suggest a formaldyahyde free one.

I will let you know how i get on when my hair is washed/wet tomorrow

430 degrees is in fahrenheit which is about 220 celcius.
Most straighteners only go up to 210 - FYI ;)

Just wondering has anyone had the 12 week blowdry before going on holiday to a humid country? I was thinking of getting it done before I go away as my hair (which is normally slightly wavy) goes insanely frizzy in the humidity. Even if I straighten it, it goes frizzy about 5 mins later.

@Pythia, you mentioned the girl said only a chemical treatment would get your hair poker straight, I'm looking for a salon that will do that chemical treatemnt but can't find one. Can you let me know who you went to? :)

Who would want poker straight hair? Its very Atomic Kitten when Kerry Katona was still in the band.

Essensuals on South William Street do it for 200 but on Mondays and Tuesdays its 30% off and 20% of the rest of the week.

hi Just to say I had the chemical straightening about a year ago and it only served to make the condition of my hair so much worse, it smelled horrible for months and was frizzier than ever (i have coloured and straightened my hair for years) my sister who has virgin hair had it done and it worked a dream.. her hair dried poker straight every time..we had it done in Athlone. also I had the 12 week blowdry done yesterday, the guy came to my house and did it for €150, it looks great and only a tiny bit greasy, i only have to leave it in till wed morning, (got it done mon) he has a page on facebook called "12 week blowdry" with his number and before and after pics.. worth a look, he travels almost everywhere to do it.

haven't been in there though so I don't know if it's good or not

    Hi guys,

I had this done last night and have had tons of compliments already today on my hair... will have to wait and see how i get on after I wash it the first time to see the total benefit.

Any of you that have had it done, are you using sulphate free or sodium free shampoo / conditioner? I was told sulphate free (naked rescue from boots) will do the trick, but I was in Sallys salon services last week and they said sodium free. I've googled it and seem to be finding mixed reviews.

Does anyone know which it is, or can anyone tell me from their own experience which they use and if it does the trick?

    Thanks!

According to the 12 week blow dry Facebook site, you must use sodium free shampoo and conditioner.

I'm still looking to get the chemical treatment :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 331 ✭✭abrr1000

you should use sodium sulphate free shampoo - any salon offerring 12 week blowdry will have it. They make the treatment last longer by not stripping the keratin

Chemically straighter absolutely destroyed my hair - it was fine for a while but became so dry and nasty, I cut it all off.

I have the 12 week blow for about 6 weeks now. I have thick, long and very wavy hair. It has certainly relaxed it and made it easier to manage, I can blow dry straight it in about 25 mins (about 50 mins before). It does NOT straighten your hair. I don't think it has improved the condition of my hair but I can't comment (yet) as to whether it has damaged it.

I would recommend it and I intend on getting it again. My hair is more greesy now and I have to wash it more often. People with curly hair naturally have less greese so this is new.

My shampoo and conditioner is nearly finished so I have to purchase more. Bear that in mind when counting the cost. My set was 50 EUR. Anyone know where I could get it cheap online?
