    Guys,

Don't know if here is the right place to ask, but I only noticed yesterday my iphone has a small (less than 1 cm) crack in the back right at the dock port. I checked my wife's & hers has one the same and also a 1 inch one

Would it be expensive to get them replaced & also where would I go ?

    TNX

Try Deal Extreme (dropshipper for (mostly) cheap Chinese stuff), though ymmv.

No idea, I got it free from someone. Check Google out there's usually loads of walkthroughs on opening them up. I'll PM you when I find it and I can post it on.

must be a fault in the build as this happened to mine at the exact same spot. its extremely difficult to change the battery hard drive and logic board are all attached to the back, its a right pain.

Cracks in the cover like you described are a fault recognized by apple. If its under warranty you are entitled to a repair/ replacement!

    Check this out: http://www.cultofmac.com/how-to-get-the-most-from-your-iphones-warranty/11368

Go to page 2 of the article. Its the first defect.

Just called apple, it's €211 to get it repaired (they replace the entire device).

Is the iphone out of warranty? If it is I guess €211 isn't bad for a brand new iPhone...... still pretty crap all the same.

Yup - 306 days out of warranty (they check the serial number). The girl advised me to wait for the 4 to come out. :/

Ah! Well if you are o2, surely you'll be entitled to an upgrade soon? Just sit tight and wait for the iphone 4 to come out. It would probably cost less than E211 to upgrade?

If your not o2, I guess E211 is better than paying E500 for the new iphone!

I thought it was very difficult to change the cover on an iPhone?

All the same, this might help!
