    Hey.

I'm looking into buying my first car and I have my eye on a 99 ford ka. Tax and nct till next year. The seller is looking for 1000. Don't know much about buying cars. Any helpful advice please?

    Cheers,
    Danny.

You need to befriend/hire someone who does know about cars. Have them look it over.

well the thing is, the seller is my brothers missus, so i know she wouldn't be with holding any problems with it. I know she only got it serviced recently and the only problem with it now is that the boot doesn't open.

Tbh a grand isn't much. A good video with pointers here.

The problem with buying/selling within a circle of friends is that if something goes wrong 6 months down the road it can cause hassle.

The issue here is: Is the car worth a 1000 to YOU? Have you compared with similar cars online?

Why doesnt the boot open? Did it ever take a rearending?

No. It wasn't a crash. Was just something to do with the lock not turning.
