Lads do many if you guys have special stands for your equipment at all? I was thinking about getting a proper laptop stand as I find most of the time when out at a gig space is quite limited and finding a good place for the controller and laptop can be difficult.

One good tip I found from here was to carry a piece of foam so you can place your controller on the top of the vinyl platter and it will remain steady.

DJTT have a laptop stand comparison here - I was thinking of getting one of these that I could use in my home setup but I could also bring out to gigs.

Do you guys use anything like this at all?

I use a stand at home,

I've never even thought of bringing it out anywhere with me as its too big and bulky and to be honest, most DJ booths are tightly packed as it is, fitting a bulky laptop stand in there anywhere will always be more trouble than its worth.

As for the laptop stands on DJTT.....€150 for some of them??!? Fùck that.

I have stands that i use at home, i got them in aquarius....

As above, i don't bring them to gigs, i only use them at home to get the laptops up off the desk as i was kinda caught for room here....

i bring a foam pad to gigs and stick it on top of a CDJ or something and lash away then!

I was given the use of one of these puppies recently for a performance and will likely invest in one some time soon:

it broke down to a point where it would fit inside my travel bag so that's a plus and nice and light.

Really handy one here, pricey though... (and I know they're cowboys at HTFR)

There was one I saw before which could fold up in an A4 size which would fit into a laptop bag but I can't find it at the moment

Thursday was the first time I've used one, and to be honest, I don't know why I haven't thought of it before. Was playing in the Button Factory, and the desk was completely full with 2 vinyl and 3 CD decks, said it to the soundguy and he produced a little one to hook under the Technics. Definitely might look into getting one.

I think my missus got it with a hair dryer or something. So I snagged it when she threw away the packaging....

I just put my coat across the cdj's and plonk my flightcase on top,
i've built my laptop, powersupplies, hard drive and soundcard into
a turntable flight case. 1 power lead, 2 audio leads and away i go, simplez.

it gets warm but if you look in the second pic you'll see the 2 vent holes,
the HD isnt working too hard as it's only streaming mp3's. i run my live set off a memory stick.

Yeah thats the type of thing I want. Very handy if it breaks down to a portable size. Cheap too, but delivery on it is almost as much - €15!

yea delivery is the bummer. I'm waiting until I know someone who's placing an order for other stuff. I'm also seeing if any music shops around can do them for a comparable price.
