Can onyone tellme if the ROK is a tough spin, i.e lots of steep hills or is the course flat. Not sure what the route is to load on to map my ride to get elevation.

    Thanks :)

its mostly rolling terrain, fairly flat overall, 2 longish drags make up the hardest of the climbing

I would not rely on map my ride to try and figure out elevation in any case. But yeah it's relatively flat. Lots of it is rolling, only two "climbs" to worry about, one coming out of Watervill and one coming out of Kenmare (Moll's Gap).

Long not overly tough but great fun.
    Climbs

    Coomakiste. 5km at under 4%.
    Molls Gap. 7km at 3%

Not climbs in the actual sense but drags.

If you can do a 100km flat spin then the Ring of Kerry is very doable.
Well supported with lots of feedstops.

I can say that the road in parts is poor but is getting better.

Is the Tour De Burren much easier? Thinking of doing it as a warm up for the ROK.

    Folks,

I was just wondering is it worth the trip down from Dublin to do it?

Tour de Burren 100km - maybe a par for difficulty with the ROK, but the 160km more difficult - definitely

Hey guys if you are looking for places to stay you should visit this website http://www.killorglinringofkerry.com its the killorglin website. It has a lot of great priced local b&b's and guesthouses. Killorglin is much cheaper than killarney and only a short spin away.
