Having trouble installing Chrome on Mac

I'm running OSX 10.3 and trying to install the latest version of Google Chrome OS. When I drag the .dmg to Applications, I get the message:

The operation can’t be completed because the item “libplugin_carbon_interpose.dylib” is in use.

Can anyone lend a hand? Googling the problem has led me nowhere.

Don't drag the dmg to Applications. Open the dmg and drag the Chrome app within to Applications.

When I open the .dmg, it brings up the box to drag the big logo into the big applications folder. I did that. I also dragged the .dmg file on my desktop into my Applications folder.

At the moment, I have the raw .dmg file and the icon Disk Image file of Google Chrome in my Apps folder. I have the main logo for Chrome on my Dock, but it isn't in Apps at all. I'm so confused.

DON'T drag the dmg file to Applications. Once the you install the application, the dmg file can be ejected and deleted.

If the application is already in the dock that probably means you opened it and it is running from the disk image. If so, quit it and remove it from the Dock. Then reinstall by dragging the Chrome icon inside the dmg image to the Applications folder.
