Trying to trade a 32gb ipod touch and a quarter of "Dank" - high grade marijuana.

Basically, what 20-year-olds Jacob Walker and buddy Joseph Velarde did was smoke a **** ton of their own stash, get stoned, and then come up with what, at the time, probably seemed like the most ingenious idea either of their fried brain cells had ever conceived. And yes, you're right, while I technically don't know if they were stoned at the time (guilty as charged), I do know that the two decided to use Craigslist to solicit an iPad using a 3rd gen iPod touch and a QP of the aforementioned "blue dream straight outta cali" bud.The pot was conveniently placed in a jar on a scale, so potential traders—and police—would now exactly what they were getting into with the deal. When undercover officers were offered the pot during a meeting, arrests—and tech history—were made.
Both men currently face charges for possession of an illegal substance and conspiracy to sell Marijuana. Also, no iPad. [AZ Family via Edible Apple]

Completely idiotic.. Selling drugs on one of the most popular sites over there is always going to land you in trouble.
If I had a drug conviction, I'd want it from a DS raid or high speed chase/shootout.. Not this. There's absolutely no craic in telling anyone this is how you got caught!

hmm, the thing is that weed is semi-legal in California, and enforcement is light to non-existant. Medical etc.

they could have worded it differently - only for medicinal use - and gotten away with it.

Doubt it, it's not like the headshops here where any Tom Dick and or Harry can set up shop and start selling. There are selling and buying licenses that you need to get first. While the licenses may not be the most difficult to get if your a buyer there is a law and the cops can react to anyone acting outside of that law.
