    Hi,
there is a stationary camera on the N3 coming from Dunshaughlin heading towards blanchardstown. I've never used this road before. It flashed  does anyone know if its active. I think its a 60km zone and i was doing about 70ish!!!!

From memory the camera heads along the ex-N3 are all thoroughly incinerated and can't flash...

Did someone on here not say they passed this one and they were fixing it up again.

I'm sure some must have been fixed by now - it was years ago when they were all burned.

OP , its 50/50 if you were caught or not. Even when all these cameras were working there was a fair chance there was no film inside it. Out of 20 or fixed cameras around the country only 3 of them had any film in them at any time IIRC. So even though it flashed ( they always will ) there might not be any eveidence taken at all. ;)

Usually with these kind of cameras, if it's loaded it'll flash twice...

If it flashes only once, then I don't think there'll be a problem. It's 28 days to get a ticket in the post.

    Hope this helps!

It can be anything up to 6 months.

They flash twice if there's a camera installed, or they don't flash at all if there isn't. Most don't have cameras installed, but the cameras do get moved around.

I have never heard of them flashing once, unless they're defective.

Phone the Gardai, give them your reg number, location and speed and ask them to check:p

That's a new development as that camera (just before the Trim/Fairyhouse junction if it's the one I'm thinking of) was originally set fot 100 km/h before the roadworks started for the M3 and that stretch was reduced to 80 (then 60).

Even then, up until recently, it was still set to 100 as that 60 zone comes into effect almost at the road markings for the camera and never flashed if you exceeded this.

If they've now changed it, then presumably the others have been reset too - the one north of Dunshaughlin heading to Navan works anyway, one further north a few miles outside Navan was burned, and the one one the far side of Navan heading to Kells was similarly burned out too (they repaired this last one last year and it lasted about 2 weeks before it had another flamable "accident")

Not surprising though.. with the M3 now open they'll no doubt be doing everything they can to make driving on the "old" road as difficult as possible so as to encourage use of the motorway - and the tolls!! :(
