Just leave it hooked up to your PC and use TwonkeyVision or another virtual server to stream them.

It's very easy to setup, once you have it installed, just reset your PS3 and look for media servers

I assume you have a wireless router?
Twonkey will use it to send everything to your PS3

Do you need to pay for Twonkey ? Or is there a way of getting it for free ?

You will need to format the hard drive to Fat 32 with partitioning software (backup files on hard drive first!)

Then create folders on the external drive - Movies, Music, Photos (same as they are called on the PS3.

Then the PS3 will read them. Although, you can still press triangle on the external HDD icon under any heading and select Display All. This will show you all the files.
