100 Years French Navy Super Etendard

I know the Etendards have been around for a few decades, but I never realised they were that old.

Quite similar to an F-4 in that photo if you ignore the straight wing and tailplane. They must be pushing on a bit, are there plans to replace them any time soon?

Yeah the Rafale F3 is ment to replace them. The Rafale F1s replaced the old F-8 Crusaders which badly needed replacing first.

The F1s just had air to air abilities, the F2s are more capable, multirole and the F3s will be better again and a massive leap forward. The F1s are being mothballed now and F2 standard Rafales are replacing them in the Navy while they wait for the F3 standard to come online.

The French airforce never bothered with the F1s and waited for the F2 standard before taking Rafale deliveries. That shows how stuck the Navy were.
