    Folks
Appreciate some ideas for what you think on selling car private.

I have a buyer travelling (3hrs) tomorrow, said he will definately buy the car as he is a mechanic and "knows the MPS".

Anyway, what are the do's and don't with regards selling a car private?

I have asked the buyer to pay cash and that I would like him to come to the bank so that they will check it and then deposit it, he agreed.

I will obviously accompany him on the test drive, I presume there is no issue on him test driving?

    I would appreciate your advice.
    Thanks

Make sure he has some form of insurance for the test drive obviously.

apart from that it all sounds fairly good!
make sure you keep the logbook and send it off yourself, preferably send it off whilst you're both there together.

not sure apart from that..good luck with it!

SV has covered pretty much all the points.
Set yourself the minimum price you'll accept and don't go any lower. He's not doing a 6 hour round trip to arrive home empty handed so you have more than likely got a sale here.

Don't give him the keys till you're in the car and don't get out till you get them back.

    Thanks for the advice lads,

car sold, money in bank, happy days.

So what will I buy now lol, hard to match the 260bhp of the MPS.

Its a diesel anyway, looking at the ST Mondeo or the Octavia VRS.
    Maxing out at 12500.

Hopefully off to the UK on Sat to nail one of them

If you're looking at a diesel it's just A-B transport at the end of the day, does it really matter?

Just out of curiosity, why would he accompany you to the bank?

To ensure the money was not fake or to back up your story of putting in such a large money because of money laundering questions?

    May be selling myself soon.

To ensure the money was not fake, if it was fake he was going to have to take it back with him! :)

Also they asked why the big lodgment so he verified it with me.
