Really like the look of this and always loved my G&G but cant find any decent reviews on the net. My main worry is what is reliability is like and if anyone can comment on rof and accuracy please. http://www.guay2.com/web/our_product/l85a2.php?lang=en

First off - I recommend it.
    There's good reviews on Arnies.

I’ve always like the look of the L85 and the G&G AK47 impressed me so much I changed my opinion regarding their quality and was on the lookout for one for a while.

I just set up the SUSAT on mine yesterday at HRTA - easy enough and great looking but the eye relief is poor'ish - might just change back to the iron sights but I'll give it a few runs before I decide. I'm not a scope man normally so I think I just need some skirmish practice to get used to it.

Nice range, good accuracy (massive barrel) and reasonable rof. There's an electric blow back which probably tends to take away from the rof. I like it tho. Real smack when firing.

The cocking handle is broken off on mine (like that when I got it) but I'd imagine it’s easy enough to happen. Doesn’t affect the operation and I'm waiting on a new cocking plate assy from hobbyairsoft to replace it.

The piston and piston head were mushed on mine also but changed both and seemed to run ok yesterday.

The trigger contacts were also fried on mine - sorted by Richie in Eirsoft.
AFAIK, the ARMY R85 is a clone of the G&G L85A1 and the main difference between the A1 and A2 is the cocking handle and the piston - the A2 version has a tooth removed to prevent premature engagement and inevitable failure.

I'm sure there's other improvements but I've never seen either the G&G A1 or ARMY versions up close.

The quality of the body and metal finishing is top notch.

The take down is so easy it's unreal. Also - the gearbox is split and changing a spring takes just minutes. Fantastic in my opinion.

G&G recommend a large 8.4V battery - any more and you'll be looking at new pistons etc I'd imagine...

The gun has a few idiosyncrasies such as the misfire when changing from full auto to semi and occasional lockups in semi - just makes the gun more realistic for me. :)
The pin holding the mag catch can disappear - easy fix tho. Mine's solid.

I did own the CA AUGA1 and while I love the bull pup design - I hated having to have different mags - the L85 using stanag M4 type mags is a gift and a big positive in me deciding to go for it.

There are great takedown guides (videos) and manuals on the G&G website - really worth a look.

It's not everyone’s cuppa tea but I have to say I love it.
I'd consider buying another to pimp up a bit... rails etc - and keep this as stock.

    For me -
Pros - accuracy, range, finish quality, electric blowback, look, stanag mag compatibility, split gearbox, ease of takedown, not common as M4's or AK's on the field, great milsim gun -

Cons - weight (heavy but I like it), lack of rails, lockups, burnt trigger contacts, relatively low rof by some other gun standards - but personally I prefer the lower rof. EBB probably prone to failure but ok for me and easy disable its action anyway...

    Overall 9/10

and I'm probably gonna buy another - just for a pimp up job...
    hope this helps.:)
    Aidan.

    Hi Rasherz

Trigger contacts can go on em all - not just L85's. Probably easier to change on the L85 than alot of others.

They are low cost and easy enough to get from a retailer here or abroad if ya have to.

Expect to get alot of use before they might even become an issue...;)

Apologies for the delayed reply - thought I had replied already.:o
