Hi lads, can someone please explain to me how a limited slip dif works? Is it the same as welding the diff?
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question.

    No, they're different.

A lsd will allow a certain amount of slip, so wheels aren't dragging when you go around a corner - the inner wheel should be moving less than the outer wheel.

A welded diff will cause both wheels to rotate the same speed no matter whether the car is going in a straight line or around a corner.

    Smart.

If Google is such a wonderful tool, why bother having a tech help forum.

For basic info, it'll take longer to open the tech help here and post the query than compared to opening Google and typing.

If the person did that and was still confused or had a problem, then we will attempt to answer.

Also, if a poster has a technical question, Google can throw up loads of irrelevant info which could be contradictory.
