    Hi,

Can someone explain the 3 hour forecast maps on Met.ie (precipitation)?

Suppose it says is for 1300h UTC.
Does that mean that the map is the 3 hour predicted precipitation totals from 1300-1600h?

Apologies in advance if this seems obvious.

Many thanks for info on this.

It means it's the predicted accumulation for the 3 hours up to 1300, ie 1000-1300

Also, times are give in UTC which is one hour behind local.

Ah! Is it an automated predicted chart (non-human input)?

Yes, it,s the HIRLAM (HIgh Resolution Local Area Model) output but I think it also takes in data from the current rainfall radar, not sure
