Like any store, If they have the one you like then yes!

I'd say it would be. Like southsider1 said, if they have the ring you like then go for it. You don't have to spend a fortune on an engagement ring as long as it's one ye both love.

Just looking in H Samuel today, saw an engagement ring I like, and can afford. I wonder though, is H Samuel a bit Argos-y? Thats the impression I get. Am I right?

No would be a step above Argos but there is too much put on how much a engagement ring cost or how many carots it is etc.

If you like it and can afford it and want to be with the person that you are going to give it to then buy it

Cheers Campo. I know what you're saying, but I'm more thinking of the quality of it, I dont want the ring to fall apart after a couple of years.

Its white gold, and yerone said it would have to be "re-dipped" every year. I was like ? Is that normal for white gold, or is it just a piece of iron in the middle, electro-plated with white gold?

Actually I think it's pretty standard to have to redip white gold - it scratches easily enough so would need the dipping to look 'as new'

Really I better get this done for the O/H ring as it is white gold and she has it 2 years now

White gold is an alloy which is rhodium plated to give it the beautiful shine. Most jewellers will tell you it needs to be redipped every year and some jewellers will do this the first time for free. This is perfectly normal.

I have a wedding ring which is 9 years old which I bought from H Samuel, another jewellers fecked up my ring and I ended up having to buy one the week before the wedding as a stop gap but loved it. I've never gotten it re dipped and it looks perfect.

I have an engagement ring and an eternity ring which are also both white gold (not from H Samuel) and have never gotten them dipped either.

As far as H Samuel goes, if the ring is something you like, then it doesn't matter where it's bought. I can't imagine it falling apart. Newmugs, have a look in fields aswell, they are particularly reasonable imo.

    It is up to you.
If you see the perfect ring their then buy it:)

Don't get hung up about brands etc

I bought a white gold ring in hsamuel 9 years ago and wore it non stop for 9 years and it has never been redipped,it is scratched but it is still as white as the platinum one I got the same day.

Got my white gold engagement ring in H Samuel nearly 2 and a half years ago. I only had to have it dipped once. The ring was the exact same as one I had seen somewhere else for significantly less. My friend got her engagement ring for in a so-called higher end jewelers about a year after me and the claw broke and she lost one of the diamonds.
If its nice and you and your fiancé like it then go for it

I've got H Samuel white gold jewellery which I don't wear often, but it still looks like new. Never had to have them dipped.

Our rings are also white gold. Generally, I go back to the store we got my E-ring from in Hatton Garden every couple of years and have the rings cleaned and re-dipped to keep them nice. They also check the settings in my diamonds and tighten if necessary.
