Before I nip off to the leaba.

Been messing around getting quotes for changing my car (02 Impreza N/A) over for the remainder of the year.

    1998 Celica SR 1.8 = €400 extra.
    1998 Ford Sierra 2.0 = €0 extra.
    2003 Mondeo 2.0 = €400 extra.
    2002 A4/Passat 1.9 = €300 extra.
    1998 Integra dc2 type r/sir = Fúck off.
    1996 Civic type r/sir = €200 extra.
    2002 Saab 9-3 2.2 tid = €1,000 extra.
    2003 Mazda 6 1.8 = €400 extra.

There was a few more but can't remember as I'm too tired. Seriously, wtf is up with the quotes?

I get nothing extra added if I buy an old sierra but if I buy a new, safer, mondeo/passat/A4 I get charged extra?

Then on the civic it's not much extra. Then the saab??? What BHP do those things put out that it's such a high increase?

Each vehicle is given its own rating. These are given based on claim stats.

Always get a quote from your ins co. before buying a new car.

I've seen differences of up to 200 quid between a 1.2 punto and a 1.2 corsa before.

So, loads of people who drive a saab can't drive and therefore claim a lot? :pac:

I got a quote of €550 for quinn direct for my 98 spec Integra, i was shocked...

The reason why that is so high, Honda/Acura Integras are one of the most robbed cars in the world.

And alot of tools in this country have rolled them into ditches.

Not surprised they're giving you that for nothing - production ended in 1993!

What? I had the full reg of the car, though. Albeit I got it because I mixed up two digits when getting a quote for a celica but still, it came up as a ford sierra. There was something else after sierra but can't remember what it was.

What age are you, years no claims, years driving etc, if you don't mind me asking? :)

That's mad that the SAAB is so much more expensive. Incidentally, unless they brought out a newer version, I'd avoid the 2.2 diesel.

So not worth it's bills? I've heard of one of those pushing the 250 mark after a re-map. Lies? Which of them are worth the extra?

Just the civic & Celica by my guess. Oh and the mondeo, it was a Ghia.

    250bhp? I'd be very surprised.

Right, we'll stick him in the full-of-bull pile. :D

What BHP does a 320 d put out? My insurance doesn't go up at all if I get one.

There were two engines in the e46 320d. The 99 to 01 one had 136bhp and the one from 02 on, had 150bhp. However, the 02-04 versions are known for turbo failures. The earlier one was a little more robust, but sounded a bit rougher. Still a good car, but a potential for expensive bills all the same. I had a 2000 one and had to put a good bit of cash into keeping it on the road.

Ek9 for only €200 extra stands out, finding a nice 96 example would be a huge task though

I have to say, I find those quotes quite odd.

Depending on age, a standard car will give 136/150/163 or 177bhp.

I tried to get insurance on a 98 Spec DC2 last year (8 years full license, no concivtions, 2 years NCB) and was told by Quinn that they wouldnt insure me on it, or anything over a 1.6. Either theyve dropped their standards or they didnt like the sound of my voice...

Yup, good luck finding one that hasnt had the stones driven out of it by some little 17 year old moron! Cracking looking car tho; IMO possibly the nicest hatch ever made.

You're driving 8 years and they won't insure you over 1.6:confused:

    I can't imagine any 17 year old getting insured on one if a 25+year old can't ;)
