    • I'm sore , im tired , i have pains in places i didn't know i had, and feel so unfit its downright shocking , and yet i come off of one of the best days of my life. Some back ground first off, MsF , 27 , ALS ? nah just joking . But 27 and feel heavier than people (Family HA !) say i look ok, in just terms unfit and wanted change.

    • Anyway , a very nice Mod of this forum invited me to accompany him to one of the clubs he trained in , i turned up did some basic break falling tho i didn't see whats so basic about but had a blast

    • So first official nights class, went through the break fall's i tried to learn previously , and had a fantastic time with one of the black belts , went slow , showed me form , technique , etc , i really learned alot , i dont know if its a good teacher to to say ''wow have you done an MA before'' or its a confinence boost , but bless him i felt i could try harder and impress. Im crap but that one statemeant even though i think could have been crap made me feel like a champ and i wanna train with that guy as much as i can .

    • Im so unfit its silly , thinking im slim enough , strong enough is madness in judo at this stage for me , its balance , balance ,balance , i had so much fun. Im sore but like that cool way , you know your tried hard. I would encourage anyone to take this up , its a mindset , a determination , a spirit , and dedication and can be linked to anything successful , and out of them aspects a healthier lifestyle .

    • Your learning how to fall in a proper way , to judge movements before they come at you and always stay calm , all great and all equate to real life . cant wait to next weeks class , blagged a judogi (nice to know nice people/mods i guess) and take it seriously .

    • Need to learn learn the proper names for throws , point a brother to right directions my peeps ! So a new week beckons, can i get better ?, maybe , will i try harder ? yup sir

Thats a nice post, and since you've returned for a second night I can officially say "Welcome to Judo :D ".

Judo at The Daigokan can seem a little soft & slow in comparision to Portmarnock, Lusk or Coolmine but you'll be surprised at how fast your knowledge of the art will improve under John, Tommy & Donal. They really do define Judo.

One book I'll encourage you to buy is 'The Pyjama Game', buy it now and you'll read it again and again through your journey into Judo and your various gradings.

From the book (remember this convo and bare in mind I'm presenty on crutches!!)..
"As a beginner I was at first much alarmed by the prospect of training with black belts. I soon learned that they were the safest opponents of all and the people who I should really steer clear of were the beginners who were bony, clumsy and furiously keen - people who were just like me."

Mostly whatever online questions re. Judo are answered over on www.judoinfo.com and its forum, www.judoforum.com (but don't be a stranger here!!).
