I downloaded this app a few days ago but no matter where I try or how long I wait, it says 'No GPS signal- Waiting for a valid GPS signal'

The reviews were all mostly pretty good for this app...

I have a 3G on Vodafone network... can anyone help please??

I presume you're outside when trying to get a signal as it won't work indoors...

I find sometimes the app fails to load completely and restarting the phone usually gets it working again - might be worth trying

Used it yesterday (in Dublin) for the first time with no such issues. On an O2 3GS.

Thanks for replies... yeah have tried starting & restarting but no good... using it outside in the car!!!

How long does it usually take for it to find the signal?

    Thanks

It's usually fairly fast. Check that location services are turned on in Settings > General.

Are other apps that use your location finding your position?

Next step is probably to do a full backup and restore of the phone in itunes

do you think that would be really necessary..? can be done but a pain as would have to re-jaibreak & unlock..

I recall something a long while back about some metallic material used in some car windscreens that actually blocked a GPS signal.

Have you tried standing out in the open, away from any tall buildings?

Hi Tom, thanks for commenting, haven't actually tried in the open but have used other GPS systems in the car... pretty sure they work using the same or similiar signals?

Yeah, a gps is a gps, I would imagine they all work the same way.

    Hi iPink,

Until the other day when I read this thread I'd never had any problems with NDrive, but Sods Law once I read it it started happening to me!

    So I cursed you. A lot :D

The symptoms of my problem were it wouldn't get a GPS signal, the suddenly it would then 1 second later it would be searching for a signal. This would go on for about 2 mins before it found it for a second again.

Managed to fix it though. I kind of did three things at once:
    1. Moved the position of the holder on the windscreen (so I could see the iPhone better)
    2. Turned off Location Services in settings in the iPhone.
    3. Turned off GPS in NDrive itself

Had to repeat 2 & 3 a couple of times but then it picked up the signal and worked flawlessly the whole way into work this morning.

    Hope this helps

    bf
