Celtic tiger security glass

I noticed something that struck me as odd today.

Was in a certain busy midlands station looking to buy a ticket. As I was waiting at the counter I was admiring the inch-thick security glass. Through the glass I could see the back door of the office, which leads out onto the street, was wide open. As no-one was at the ticket counter but I could see someone shuffling around out the back I went around to the back door to get their attention, and did the rest of my transaction via the back door. This door appears to be permanently open too!

How Irish! A case of too much money in the boom so spend it on something otherwise someone else will?

the door will be closed and locked when it needs to be, ie late on in the evening and night when the scum and drunks are about. then the inch thick glass will be justified

The whole station is locked up late in the evening and at night, as there are no trains.

I think the armed robbers will twig the best time for a hold up is during office hours.

Sounds to me like the problem isn't the security glass, but that the staff are careless with leaving the back door open.
