Where can i get the best deal on a telecaster?

I have wanted to get a telecaster for quite sometime now. I will have enough money shortly to buy one (mature student, not enough funds normally). I have often bought equipment on adverts.ie and gumtree.ie and found it very good. I get to check out the equipment beforehand and it, in my experience, has always been in perfect nick. I would consider buying a second hand guitar no problem as i get to check it out beforehand first and i am almost certain i will go this way. I do think websites like thomann are great but when it comes to instruments i don't like it. I like to be able to play an instrument beforehand. I don't understand this mentality of buying a guitar that you like off a website. Every guitar is made of a different piece of wood. So my question i suppose is, where can i get a good deal on a US Telecaster? I may end up checking out a second hand guitar and buying it but i just want to check if anyone else knows of any other places i may get a good deal, get to test out the guitar beforehand etc? Any advice would be great. Cheers lads.

I'm not sure how helpful this post will be, but I'm going to give a huge +1 to second-hand. You're getting a cheaper, worn-in instrument, maybe even of a nice vintage or a different spec than the stock ones, maybe some nice arm-wear or something vintage-specific like that. You get to try it first, you might even get a cup of tea in the process :)

Also, part of me likes the idea of giving my money to another music fan instead of a huge corporation.
