Looking to set up a LTD company, the name we want to use is in use but the company is listed as dissolved as of 2005...

Now, someone said that once a company is dissolved the name remains their property for 20yrs?? Is that true??

Is there anyway possible to obtain ownership of a dissolved companies name?

    Hi

This is unfortunately true. If you get permission from the owners of the previous company that they do not object, you can pick a similar name.

There is no way round this unless you register a business name.

If you get permission from the owners of the previous company that they do not object, you can pick a similar name.

To the best of my knowledge, CRO will not accept a letter of no objection from a director of the company with the similar name if the company is dissolved.

There's always the option to register the company under XYZ Limited and T/A the desired name.

Or you could try a different version, insteady of acme systems try acme partners, acme online, acme ireland, acme galway or whatever suits.
Otherwise the suggestion about trading as (T/A) is good, easier to get a business name.
