I'm interested in getting a swim training watch.
Don't care about logging distance, but want something that will stroke and lap count relatively accurately. Something with a heart rate monitor would be good too. Also if there happens to be one that will be useful running that would be good too.

Wondering whats a good make and model to get for this and how much these things cost ?

There is a couple on this website Link

I've ordered from these and are very reliable. I have not got one of these watches but some have reviews you can read.

The Swimovate Pool Mate watch is the one that I've seen most frequently used for counting laps and strokes. You just plug in the length of the pool and it automatically figures out how much you've done. I don't have one because it doesn't have water temperature on it and that's my criteria for a swim watch so I can use it in open water. But a friend uses one and has found it to be quite accurate. It's a bit cheaper here on Amazon, you may be able to find it even cheaper elsewhere, I don't know.

I don't know of any other watches that automatically count laps, but that doesn't mean they're not out there!

Just pointing out. Lap count and distance is the same thing really. Just in different units.

Yeah I know. Stroke counter is what I'm really interested in

The Swimovate counts laps and stoke count very acuratly, I have used one and it works very well. Also gives you how many calories you burn, total time swam, total laps in a session and stroke efficiency.

It is a very good watch and if you are like me and loose count of your laps or if you are training for a long distance swim it is ideal after a 40 min swim I would have no clue how many laps I would have done but with this watch I know exactly.
