    Hi all,

Not knowing the hugest amount about cars but am looking to purchase a Mondeo. probably 1.8 Diesel, either 2008 or 2009 or 2010 if I get a (very) good deal. Currently driving an Astra.

Can anyone advise of any good/bad experiences with Mondeos that you can share? or reasons for buying/not buying one.

I've heard that a new model will be coming out for next year so not sure how that will affect resale value.

    any advice greatly appreciated!

I have been driving a 2008 2.0l diesel recently. It has the Titainium spec so is very well equiped. It is a great combination of space, comfort and performance.

Only issue I've had was a repeated warning light and buzzer that the adaptive headlights have malfunctioned (and they haven't). Its anoying but not a reason not to buy the car.

I don't think you would regret buying one.

I personally wouldn't touch a Ford with a barge pole I've had 3 of them and had nothing but trouble. I have a Honda for these past 3 years and not one bit of trouble.

    You had bad luck then!

Very little trouble with the new mondeo, only some of the first ones had dual mass trouble, the later ones are modified. Can't think of anything else really.

Probably bad luck, the new ones are better I'd say. One thing I will say Fords are better to drive than Hondas, I've had a Fiesta, Focus and Mondeos and all were great to drive but I had nothing but trouble with them.

OP is going for a Mondeo 1.8 TDCi make sure you go for the Zetec model. It has 125bhp compared to the 1.8 TDCi LX model which only has 100bhp. That 25bhp makes a world of difference to a car the size and weight of the Mondeo.

The Zetec model also has more equipement with things like climate control, cruise control, alloy wheels and rear electric windows.

I think there's confusuion here. Isn't there a Zetec spec AND a Zetec engine, with no guarantee that having one = having the other?

My mother has a 2007 new model Mondeo.

We have had many electrical issues with it and shall not be buying another. I've also passed a number of TDCI models on fire on my travels in the passed 18 months however I can't shed any light as to why!
