    Hi,

I am currently using all software and looking at going for some hardware in the coming months.

I mainly produce rap and techno but would like to have hardware that will be a good all rounders. Gonna do my best to get my hands on a mpc3000, mac and new monitors.
But after that theres so much to choose from im not really sure what to go for to suit my needs aswell as not wasting money on things i dont need smile.gif.

I was advised to post on here and you guys may be able to give me some advice.

I want to go for a decent hardware synth or two (something very versatile with an awesome gritty sound) and maybe another more realistic sounding synth of some sort with very nice sounding instruments or maybe a hardware sampler with multisampling ultimatly thats what id be going for though for realistic sounding instruments im guessing? biggrin.gif..

new midi controller currently using a 37key remote sl could do with the extra keys - wat im looking for there is just a quality basic midi keyboard with no controls and after touch.

a new audio interface a bit boggled by this one - currently using a focusrite saffire le but want to have automated faders on it and extremely low latency.

A hardware effects unit wouldnt go a miss i dont think. But id like ta see what you guys would recommend.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks ste...

if u r not afraid of technology, i'd get sonic-core instead of synths.
Got a 10 y/o version here and it's extremely powerful. New ones are way better.

    HI dude ,

A word of warning about the virus ti, a friend of mine purchased one about 16 months ago since then the machine has been replaced 4 times by digital village. Its currently waiting to be shipped back to him after been away for test by dv, Its a great sounding synth but its not without its issues, the ti(total intergration element)at the best of time audio that contains clicks, pops and tuning issues. He has tried every incarnation of software revision and some sort out problems and others create problems. It has been tested on both mac and pc and the same problems occur on both systems. Its a great sounding synth but it has many issues that haven't been addressed by access who seem to be in complete denial about many of the problems. But don't take my word on it google access virus ti problems and the best of luck with whatever you end up buying.

Same problems here - it's to do with other hardware/software creating some sort of DSP objects within the OS - It's like the most random hardware in existence and returned 3 TI in total.

Basically if you use ANYTHING on the USB or Firewire buss it will interfere (and most OS with vary the voltage on the USB buss with power management also)

So, if you use a laptop with no mouse plugged in and use the TI as the soundcard you get no problems. I really believe that the tester at access is sat there with a Mac and a TI only saying 'I can't find any problems at all... it works perfectly'

I would recommend looking at the Snow maybe - or the Powercore Virus which is 100% stable - had mine running for over a year now - 100% FINE.

Access should be put up against the wall for the stress they've caused for all their users.

    Hey there

As neurojazz pointed out the powercore platform is a great way of acquiring the access virus and it can be done fairly cheaply.I'm using it myself for the last while and love the machine its alot more solid on powercore then in hardware version, it does however lose sync sometimes but this is a very minor issue and can normally be resolved by reseting the powercore. If you decide to go powercore just make sure your firewire chipset is compatible(texas instruments) work well, plus you get all the other great sounding plugins that come with the it.
