Higher education grants scheme/BETA?

    Hi,
    I have been looking up on grants and since im on social welfare and rent allowance i think i should be applying for BETA, but can i also apply for the higher education education grant too??? do i apply for both or one of these now or should i wait:eek:Im confused about this so any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

    if your starting college 1st year this september, you will only be elligable for 1 or the other.

    I suggest you take the BTEA, as you can also have a few other benefits.

    €500 book allowance paid a few weeks after you start college.
    rent allowance if elligable
    medical card
    and you would also be elligable to sign on to job seekers allowance during the summer months.

    if a person fails, or defers a module *(repeat a year) will they be able to get BETA for another term?

    no they cut the €500 cost of education
    in last december budget

    this year it will be €300

    also regristration fees increased from €2000- to €2250

    brutal

    definetly take the BTEA , but you can still apply for the grant to have your registration fees paid !
