    Do you ever use them?

I don't like to use hacked pokemon, however I do like using some cheats.
    Like all medicines/pokeballs.
I also like using the get 'extra experience' from battles as it really does take forever to train pokemon.

And now and again I use the walk through walls for the craic.:P

Does using cheats bother any of ye? and why? (jc)

I save at the 6th floor TM lottery and keep restarting if I don't win first prize within the first 6 or 7 tries. It's not action replay, but it sure is replay. Over and over.
I've stopped now that I have a Meowth with PayDay and an Amulet coin. I felt guilty.

Why restart? You get it eventually and along the way you'll get more Berries (hard to find unless you decide to grow them) and some handy-in-specific-situations balls.

I restarted 'cause I didn't have an infinite amount of cash and I hadn't gotten far enough to get rematch calls. I grow my own berries and Net balls and Luxury balls are not really that useful.

Used AR once on Pearl (Diamond was my main game), and it kinda sucked a lot of the fun out of it. I know it wasn't really possible for me to get all of them otherwise, but it was still more fun running around, hunting for that one that eluded me so far.

Yeah, that's what I don't get about the AR - It took me about a year to get a Tangela on Diamond due to various trade windows falling through etc. When I finally got one it felt great. And that's what it's all about - ARing or Pokesaving that last dex entry or the perfect IV pokemon is pointless, it's like masturbation, except there's no effort or ejaculation, you're just mopping up a mess, feeling naggingly guilty and you're not sure why.

I never use AR to get pokemon.
I just don't like to spend days on end training certain pokemon.
And extra master balls are great for the legendairies as I always have a hard time catching them...

The only one I ever found good in a non-game ruining sense was EXPx2. Since it's just multiplying a integer by two, it's a pretty safe cheat. The reason I like it is that on new games you can end up with a rattata/spearow/mankey/zubat in your party and by the time you get a good replacement they're hella levels behind. So EXPx2 lets you try new pokemon in your party without the massive grind involved.

Back in 3rd gen I *hangs head in shame* used an AR to get the event legends that weren't available in this side of the world (Mew, Celebi and Deoxys). Of course about 4 years later during the 4th Gen, Nintendo finally decided to give us a Mew event for the 3rd Gen....what great timing Ninty...

These days I don't use AR to cheat, as Banjo mentioned, it takes the fun out of the game. I do backup my game save and use the Pokésav to view my Pokémon's IVs, EVs gained and clone. I do not use it for any of the horrid things it is known for.

I play my game(s) to catch/breed the best 'mon that I can. I enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Yes the soft resetting for perfect IVs is tough going, but if feels like you've earned it, rather than RNGing the whole thing.

I must admit I love the adrenaline rush of finding a shiny on the GTS and then legit checking it and finding out it's 100% legit, EPIC WIN!!!!

So that's how you do your cloning...
All this time I've been using an EZ 3-in-1 to backup my sav then using an R4 and multiple copies of the Sav to put them up on GTS then pull them down to the legit cart... what a bleedin' waste... but again, feels like you've earned them :)

I've done that too in the past, that was a pain if you clonee got nicked during the process. It has happened to me... :(

Depends what you put them up for - I'm sure I don't need to tell you how useful a Level 9-and-below Mew or Deoxys can be on the GTS :)

Ive been experimenting with a way of using sav's as well. I copy the pokemon form my real game to a r4 sav. Make multiple copys of the sav and trade back from that copy to my real game. Needs 2 ds's, and an r4 but hey, it seems to work. Havnt had the guts to try it with a shiny/legendary yet in case the sav corrupts on the r4 and i lose it

If you're worried about the sav on the R4, keep one copy on your hard drive that you don't touch. Worst case scenario, if the R4 mem card goes mental and corrupts your cart you can pop in a different memory card with the inviolate backup, the program that backs up the SAV in the first place can probably be used to re-write the save to the Cart (although *that* can be risky). Done it a few times, no probs so far (started playing Diamond, Pearl and Platinum before they were released, then wrote my savs to the carts, worked a treat. )

the part i was worried about was the stage after tradeing but before being about to back it up. (Ive lost college work that way before) I went for it last night with and was able to clone some pokemon and items.

As it is possible to tell a hacked pokemon at events, can a hacked item be identified???

Hacked Pokemon: if done wrong, it can be identified
Hacked item: No, not that I've seen. Avoid the obvious ones like Azure Flute and you should be fine

If you are unsure at an event, then don't use that game to download Event 'mon or battle. Better safe than kicked out :)

I hacked my Pearl to bits. Not really rewarding at all knowing you can have any 'mon you want shiny or non shiny at the press of a button. I do however put in the master ball cheat and keep a spare master ball in my other versions for the rare occasion I come across a shiny or whatever.

I'm really surprised at all the people that use AR codes and Pokésav and stuff... I've played every generation but I've never used AR (actually there was that Missingno. along Cinnabar Island cloning the 6th item thing... but that was it, and I was like 6/7 :P ) Having said that though I've never completed a Pokédex, so I can understand the temptation.. I don't know know, I'm not sure I agree with even cloning the obscure event 'mon. I mean, that's the fun of the game...

Jirachi today is actually my first major (once..) rare 'mon... :pac:

I use codes when I want to do a Single Pokemon Run of the game.

Just make it appear in the first patch of grass and then play as normal once I've caught it.

I occasionally use it to make Safari Zone Pokemon appear in the wild to save time.

First gen is my favourite gen anyway, so the Mew glitch is pretty much all you need anyway.

like I've said, I've never used AR to create pokemon. I think that spoils the fun.
Jirachi is also my first majar rare pokemon :P.
I've got 2 now :).....hopefully I'll trade one later ^^ and have 2 rare pokemon :P
