I fell asleep on the Dart a few times on the way back from work when knacked but fortunitally it was only a matter of getting out and back tracking a few stops. So far I have been fortunate not to fall asleep on the last Dart / bus.

My elderly uncle once got on a train at Carlow thinking he was on the Dublin train, fell asleep and woke up in Waterford.

A nightlink mishap for me would be a 4 mile walk, not too bad,

not public transport! but this automatically popped into my head!!!

was in A&E once upon a time and there was an extra large man who fell asleep. He was snoring unbelievably loud and tilting in all angles, leaning on a person who had a broken arm, and someone else who was really sick. Nobody could wake him up!!

Fell asleep on the last nitelink to Leixlip/Maynooth (when they were the same route), waking up in Maynooth only to find no cab offices open, and none answering the phone. Slept in a hedge and got the train home in the morning.

My brother was coming back from the US once after his J1. He was wrecked after flying from Nevada to Pheonix, spending the night there waiting for his next flight. Flew onto Chicago and was supposed to get off there to meet his connecting flight to Shannon. He didn't realise the flight was continuing on to New York. Fast asleep, all the others had disembarked, luggage and all, next thing he woke up to an air hostess doing the safety instruction thing, he asked someone where they were, realised he should be off the plane, luckily they were still grounded, loading more luggage. Got off the plane but missed his connecting flight. Another night in an airport. What would have a broke student have done realising they were thousands of miles from where they should be?

If the driver was anyway decent he would have a good look around the bus before he returned.to the depot ;)

Returning from San Francisco via London, I had been awake for about a day when I fell asleep on the London-Dublin flight. Woke to find two crew poking me awake. The wonders of ear plugs meant talking to me was useless. Then we were held on the aircraft because of a bomb scare in the airport. :)

Fell asleep on the bus home for work. Woke, looked out the window, saw a stone wall, thought that I had missed my stop by quite a bit, rang the bell, only to realise it wasn't for at least another 2km. Sat down again feeling rather sheepish.

Fell asleep on the London Underground for about 2 hours going back and forth on the Central Line. I think I exceeded my ticket, but have no recollection.

I was meant to be going to Malahide from Dublin. Fell asleep on a northern line Arrow, only to wake in Donabate. Confused and not recognising the station, I took a moment to decide what to do only for the doors to close. The only southbound train for the next two hours was pulling in as we pulled out. I had to walk from Rush & Lusk to Lusk village and phone for a taxi.

fell asleep whilst rat-arsed on the train from Dusseldorf to Cologne, only to wake up in Aachen, an hour the far side of Cologne.
Had another snooze on the next train back only to end up in Detmold, three hours the other side of Cologne.:o

Happened to one of my friends, he was told subsiquently that drivers are told not to wake drunks as they can get violent. Dunno how true that was, was the cleaner that said it to him.

Fell asleep on the 77N, was woken by driver in Tallaght. I saw a car burning outside, and thought, feck this, so I asked the driver to let me stay on board while he returned to town, and to go via D12 for me!

On a bus in Manchester. Fella in front of me fast asleep, head nodding. Bus stops suddenly and poor misfortune flies forward and cracks his head on the handrail of the seat in front. At least it woke him up.

After an all nighter in Manchester, early morning, Picadilly bus station with my mate waiting for bus home. Bus pulls in, I jump on. Getting change for fare when driver closes doors and sets off. Look round for pal, fast asleep in bus station. Driver wouldn't stop and let me off to get her but she made it home ok ... eventually.
