Hi some help please, a while back i went to the dentist with pain in my bottom jaw, turned out to be an impacted wisdom tooth, he said it shouldn't give me trouble but it has been killing me for a while, i went back he took x rays and told me that he couldn't do anything with it as a specalist could only remove it.(Something about it being attached to my Jaw) i don't have VHI or any Health Insurance and he told me i could be on the Public waiting list for a Year and to get it taken out might cost anything up to €2000, he said to try and keep it clean but it still lift's me out of it! i know its expensive but i need to get something done with it?? should i ask my dentist to refer me to a specalist?? any help please????:confused:

Firstly is nowhere near 2000 euro more like 4-5 hundred depending on whether you want sedation or not. Secondly it is usually free with WHI cover, but not for preexisting conditions...

    Hi there

If you are in a lot of pain (it seems like you are) and if there are many episodes of pain then you should probably get it out. 2000 seems a lot, it might cost around 2000 if you had general anesthetic and 4 wisdom teeth removed.

One tooth could be extracted under local anaesthetic with or without sedation for 5-600. Discuss with your dentist. I could send you a PM with recommendation depending where you live.
