Does a lost sex drive ever really return?

Hello. I am a 20 year old male. I have been depressed for the last two years, and I was at my worst around october/ november of last year. Nowadays I just feel completely empty and unable to feel any pleasure. My memory is even getting bad. Everything that I used to be able to do takes ten times the effort and I have very little internal motivation to do anything as I derive zero pleasure/ enjoyment/ satisfaction from achieving or doing anything.

The thing that bothers me the most though is that I have no sex drive at all. I feel like I am seriously missing out on my youth. It actually makes me so sick when I see a good looking girl on tv who, years ago, I would have been dying to have sex with.

I should mention also that I am aware that anti-depressants can lead to a lost sex-drive but I never took and really dont want to take anti-depressants, partly for that reason.

How common is it for a lad my age to have almost no sex drive and honestly, will it ever return?

Won't give you medical advice as i'm not qualified to do so but i would be aware that a loss of sex drive is a classic symptom of depression and like all of the other symptoms, with treatment of whatever kind you choose, that symptom can be allieviated. No symptom is permanent and you can get through it and you'll be back on the saddle again soon boy;-) Good luck t'ya

Likewise I can't tell you medically what to expect. I suffered from very deep depression from 16 - 27 or so. I had no sex drive at all from my teens right up to my mid to late 20s. I am on medication now, the first one that has worked for me and have been stable mood wise for over a year, and have discovered a sex drive I didn't even know I possessed. Fretting about it will only make it worse, which obviously is easy to say, and not so easy in practice. Sorry I can't be of much help to you.

anybody else able to relate to this or offer any advice? Like has anybody had a genuine loss of sex drve for perhaps a year or two, only to have it return eventually, as strong as it was prior to it going away?
