When the Saorview equipment becomes available, will it be possible to use it to pick up Northern Irish DTT overspill on the border as well as the Irish channels?

yes, but not UK HD. Unless someone certifies a DVB-T2 box for Saorview. UK MPEG4 DVB-T2 boxes will work on our Saorview if they have the requisite firmware and MHEG5. A DVB-t MPEG4 MHEG5 Saorview box will receive UK MPEG2 DVB-t .

Yes, but no doubt it will put the NI channels in the 800's.

DVB-T2 will not be used or implemented in Northern Ireland until 2012 at the earliest.

Yes it will but I am sure that like the Sagem Picnic box endakenny that it will allow you to save the channels in favourites and change the order to 1 for RTE1,2 for RTE2 ,3for TV3, 4 for BBC1,5,6 AND the rest of the NI channels. I agree that it isn't nice or convenient to see channels in the 800's as you said Winston. :) The prices could be down to 100 sterling or less for Freeview HD PVR'S by the time of DSO in NI towards the end of 2012.
