Im wasnt a huge fan of gerry ryan but to replace him with ryan tubridy (who i cant stand) confirms my opnion of rte being a tv station that operates more like a old boys club than a oranization dedicated to entertainment, for christ sake learn a lesson from the bbc and pick new talent!

I do wish RTE would bring in some new talent, but they have to work their way up. You can't give some newbie an iconic slot like that. Did Tubridy have a different slot? Some new talent could be put there.

Well the real disgrace is RTE TV News who yesterday considered that this announcement was a major story, when it really deserves a para in the RTE Guide.

For the love of God is Turbidy the ONLY DJ, presenter, personality in RTE, he already got the Late Late, it just not fair on up and coming presenters and newbies that someone who already has a job is even another one. I've nothing against Turbidy, he OK, not my favourite presenter, but I do think he wont reach a wider audience. I not a Colm/JimJim fan either (dumb and dumber IMO actually) but I have to admit Lucy and Colm dont make a bad combination and are actually quite lisenable to, leave them there!

Tubridy gone from Radio 1 is a great thing. I applaud RTÉ.

its a really really stupid attitude rte have it breeds tremendous arrogance in its presenters , i dont watch the afternoon show or anything but i belive a new slot is being filled by presenters from another afternoon show slot!

I think ryan tubridy is the most obnoxious person i have ever seen grace rte, asking stephen gatleys husband how did you find the body and then pressing the issue was repulsive beyond belief, he showed richard dawkins no respect what so ever, i mean what happaned to a interviewer being impartial.

Surprised at RTE's caution here, this was a real chance for them to be progressive but yet again it's the same old routine. I've nothing against RT but the OP is spot on.

Thanks man the fact that i dislike rt has nothing to do with the main issue anyway, the way they run their company is like playing poker with a deck of 12 cards, rte hasnt changed since dermot morgan spoke out against it for being clannish and run like a gentlemans club. imagine the sort of attitude people given this much air time have? thats not the way to develop talent.

Well thats the thing other stations often take chances with newbies there no reason that there is no new talent out there its ridiculous, have the presenters sound like their related!
