    Hi Folks,

I'm thinking of getting a '08 or '09 Octavia Diesel Automatic. I've never had a Skoda before and all in all, the reviews seem to be pretty good.

Is anyone aware of any issues with models in this range? Any quirky little things going on or more importantly any major mechanical issues that crop up?

My brother has a 06 octavia pertol and i have been it driving quiet a bit over the last couple of weeks and one thing i have found with it is, and i know this may sound stupid, but in the warm weather you would solid bake in it and if you let the the window any small bit at all, the buffering and road noise is unbearable, to me anyway, and there isnt A/C on the car, other than that its a solid car, he has it from new and never had a bit of bother with it

There's a reason that so many Octavia's were Taxi's, reliability. They are a great car, with a DSG box you won't know yourself.

Hired out a 2.0 TDI DSG back in 07, was very impressed with the car and the gearbox. It was a high spec estate model, which is what I suggest you get. Looks a lot classier than the hatchback and a whole lot rarer.
Probably best to go to the UK for it.

They can build what is basically a Volkswagen better than Volkswagen. Not that hard admittedly but octavia is a decent package on the whole
