PC satellite card

I've recently relocated the TV & STB from one room to another and run new cables into the new location no problem.

Now I find myself with a pair of cables sitting idle in the old room, right beside the PC. I was thinking of getting a cheapish (<€100) card to stick in the PC so I can tune in and record some stuff. This would be strictly as an optional extra with a view to using the cables, so I don't want to spend loads of money on it.

I've had a look at some of the Hauppage offerings out there, but I'm a bit out of touch with the latest technology options so I'm looking for suggestions of cards (or USB doobers) which work in Ireland and which can either be bought in the shops here or can be ordered online.

Cable is not a requirement, but if it did DVB-T as well it would be an added bonus.

    Thanks,

    z

p.s. forgot to add - using Vista

Pinnacle 7010IX on ebay.de is 69 Euro including delivery. You can get Free-To-Air satellite and Irish DTT on it. It's got 2 Satellite Tuners, 2 DTT & Analogue Tuners all on the one card. The card requires a pci-express slot. Currently you can get ITV1-HD, BBC-HD and STV-HD on that tuner but if those channels change to a DVB-S2 transponder you may loose them.

I'm not sure how well Vista Media Centre supports TV, I've heard it's very poor when compared to Windows7 but I've no experience of it so can't say for sure. You could Use Mediaportal (freeware) or DVB-Viewer(about 15euro) as a media centre replacement both work well and both can get 7 day EPG(program guide) for Freesat and Irish DTT channels.

For HDTV and Irish DTT you'll need a H264/mpeg4 decoder. The lastest DIVX freeware codec pack includes a good one and so does FFDShow.

I have freesat+ and was thinking of getting one of these PC cards to cover recording of the Irish channels.

What is a reasonable spec machine to run one of these cards? I have a fairly new desktop with windows 7 and 4gb of ram. Not 100% on the processor speed - its a quad core AMD chip I think. (its more a home office rather than a gaming machine).

Should I expect the pinnacle card to work OK with it ?
