If you are using your garmin + garmin connect it's fairly easy to upload your running routes. It's also easy enough to see other peoples running routes even if you don’t have an account… if you're paying attention to a certain profile you can see a pattern in their routines. Of course if you were the type of person that makes a living from entering a person's house uninvited...

Take a look at the article linked (talks about bike routes but same applies to running routes as most of us run from home). Makes sense to mark routes from home as private.

If you're that concerned, mark them all as private. I'm not sure how useful the patterns are. If a burglar wants to know when I'm out, I'm sure the first thing he would do is ring my doorbell or my home phone, rather than take a chance that I might be out, based on previous tracklogs on a website.

At least when you're out running they can't steal your watch.

If a burglar looked at my gamin connect, he would be convinced I live at the gate of Tymon park.

When I used to use Garmin Connect, and was bored I'd play a game looking at other workouts uploaded at the same time as mine (with similar numbers in the link). They could be anywhere in the world. How sad am I?

What's worse though is car satnavs. Say you lose your car keys, it's not hard for someone to find it in a car park - burglar just keeps pressing button until the lights flash and the doors open. Gets into the car and tells the satnav to bring you home. Good chance there's nobody there ....

Well once your garmin is ok who cares about the wife and offspring. :D

You mean they might lie in wait until I head out running, and steal my wife and children? For what? The only ransom I could provide would be my watch, and then I'd be left with a very tough decision.

I should point out that my OH also reads and posts on this forum and I am of course only joking. It wouldn't be a tough decision at all. Nope, no decision at all.

    You keep the watch, right?

I doubt that I could outrun Krusty even in his weakened state.
Anyway, we all know about Krusty and the garmins, I bet he has a tracker fitted to his :D

Maybe a good samaritan burgler who can analyse running patterns so well would point out the flaws in your running i.e LSR's 15sec/ml too fast, too much recovery time in your interval sessions? recommend switching to P&D rather than daniels....would that be worth losing the 42in LCD TV? sure you have insurance anyway....
