Its in 2D! well sort of, like SFIV its semi 2D, I have a soft spot for the MK games, yeah they're as shallow as a puddle but they're great fun,and if this is return to the stuff we grew up playing in the 90's then it could be a great laugh.

Kung Lao's fatality looks amazing!! Game definitely looks like its going back to its roots with lots of blood and fun. Just hope the fatalities are handy enough to pull off.

I hated the FINISH HIM sign only to have me dancing around the screen trying to put in the right combo just for the other guy to fall over. Uber FAIL!

I agree. They should be like special moves, not too complicated. I remember using one-button fatality cheats for 2 and Trilogy, the only easy way to see them all!

Still looks **** compared to the SNK and Capcom fighters.

^^ Agreed, if you see the originals they have aged terribly as well.

Ha ha yeah that brings back memories of being Sub Zero and trying for ages to pull of a Fataility and just freezing them by mistake, wanted to put foot through the tv when that happened

They're not so bad. Admittedly, perhaps MK on the Genesis has aged a bit, but playing UMK3 on the Genesis and Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the PSX a short while ago, I found them pretty entertaining.

graphically or just the gameplay? MK has never tried to take itself too seriously though, and when it did it wasnt fun, its not aimed at the super deep-learn every combo backwards, virtua fighter crowd. its fratboy gore and violence. playing MK2 in the arcades is one of the highlights of my formative teenage years, knowing an arcade owner had its advantages :D

It's aged terribly in both, gameplay more so. There isn't actually a lot to learn in Capcom or SNK fighters it's the implementation that takes a while to learn. Combos aren't actually as important as people make them out to be. It makes them easy to pick up but hard to master games. Virtua Fighter does take a lot of learning but it's definitely worth it. MK on the other hand has always been as deep as a paddling pool and horribly broken and unbalanced. It's grand for spamming fireballs and jump kicks like a spastic but it gets old very fast while something like Street Fighter 2 offers endless gameplay in multiplayer.
