    Hi All,

I recieved letter today to say that I have been successful in the assessment tests and my place of order of merit is Grade IV: 60...

Does that mean I'm in 60th position to get a call for an interview??
Wish they would explain a bit more in there notices!!

    Hi all

I got a letter too, I am Grade IV: 15.

I called public jobs and they couldnt tell me much, just that they are finished with the competition now, and Carlow IT will be dealing with it directly from here on in. The lady said that 15 is where I have been placed. She couldnt tell me out of how many people or anything. The assessment centre was for Grade 3 and 4, and I asked am I not being considered for the Grade 3 job anymore, and she couldnt answer that either!

I then called Carlow IT and the lady there didnt really know either, she said that it would be at least the end of next week before they do anything with it. At this time they will be going through the applicants, and deciding how many they are going to interview. I asked her would there by a chance of getting an interview at No. 15 and she couldnt answer. She didnt know why I had been ranked in the Grade 4 competition over the Grade 3, I applied for both. Suppose we just have to wait and see now!

You should have gotten a letter one way or another! Like if you passed, what place you got. And if you failed, stating that! Maybe give publicjobs a call

I just received the letter on Friday, so maybe your letter will arrive on Monday? I think they should let everyone know either way anyhow

you should get an interview if you were 15th I reckon. I may as well forget about it at 60th!!
I applied for both as well and only received word about Grade IV- there system is so rubbish.. I tried to look on the website if it gives details of how the application process works but theres nothing!!

Didnt know that 3500 had gone for it, I heard it was 700. Did they invite all 3500 for the assessment centre?

Defo 60 is really good considering the amount of applicants. Your place is prob not the only thing they will look at when they decide who they will interview, I got the impression when I called that they would be going though applicants entire applicant before deciding who to interview, so serious fingers crossed!
You sound like your in the same position as me applying for everything and anything in a hope to get a job!! Its tough i really hope i get a letter tomorrow!! :(

Hope you got a letter today, everyone should be told whatever the outcome.

Serious lack of info as to the process of how they are going to recruit! Hope to hear back soon

Really sorry to hear that, it is really so hard to get through stuff at the moment. Id say with the assessment that some just got lucky with it, it is just the luck of the draw how you get on on the day. It is a pity you wont get a shot at an interview, at least that way you can put yourself out there, they can see what you are like, rather than a score on an assessment test.

Keep plugging away anyhow, I know it is so difficult, I was out of work for months myself, and am now working in a job for half the salary I used to earn, but right now a job is a job and am glad to have it. I just applied for everything and anything and eventually got lucky and something came up

Well done! There must be two seperate competitions so, I must check the post when I get home to see if I got another one as well. You are higher on the Grade IV Panel, I dont know how they have come up with the figures at all! Hopefully will hear something about it soon

sure i came down from dublin to do it, not so much for the job but as i wanted to know what the test was like. I learned to bring a decent calculator that didnt turn off constantly. There were people travelling from Donegal and cork to do it from what I saw on the day. Sign o' the times

There was people from all over in Carlow that day for it, suppose there are so little jobs going at the moment people will travel for a good job. Luckily I am in Kildare within a half hour commute to Carlow, but Im sure lots of people would relocate

I got Grade III:18, second letter came today, considered for both

    A couple of things:
You'll get a letter no matter what. Either one saying you got it, or one saying to go away, better luck next time.

You have to remember that some people will do excellent in a test, but fail in the interviews. Until you get the letter saying better luck next time, never say never :)

I was wondering the same thing - I havent heard anything, when I called after the letters were sent out they said they would be looking at the applicants the following week...

Well, ok I work in public sector and to me what you describe is a panel, so to speak they have created a panel of people that they will work from.
So, who ever got number 1, if they cant do it/interview/dont want it etc they will work on to number 2 and so on so forth. A panel has an expiry date (usually).
I know someone who got 31st on a panel for publicjobs.ie about 2 years ago and within a month she had gotton a permanent clerical position. But thats all changed nowadays with moratorium etc.

There was an assessment centre held by public jobs, and they have ranked applicants. Carlow IT will now select a certain number of people to interview, and then a panel will be formed.

Good to hear about your friend, duno what the chances are nowadays but here's hoping!

Has anyone heard anything yet about interviews etc?
At the assessment, i think they said we would be notified mid june.
Or does that mean the letters they sent out?
Does anyone know how long it normally takes to be called for interview?

Anyone heard anything from Carlow IT? Seems like ages since the letters came out - Have they interviewed already? I came 15th and was really hoping to get an interview...

I got the two emails also yesterday, but still none the wiser... are they holding interviews? or is the job taken?

Just a quick update! Have tried to call Carlow IT a couple of times over the past few weeks, and got through today.

The lady I was speaking to said that they have not done anything with the recruitment for these jobs yet, so no one has been called yet. She said they will be writing to everyone in due course. She couldnt tell me when they are going to be doing this though. I asked if the jobs would be starting in September and she couldn't tell me either way.

I dont even know if there are actual jobs or they are looking to form a panel as jobs come up??

There is finally some movement on this! Got an email Monday, they have sent out applications forms to be filled in, closing date is Friday, and they are hoping to interview the week of the 4th October for both Grade III and IV. Think they are only calling the top 20 from each panel at the moment. Have no idea what the job are or how many, the email does say " Please note that due to government restrictions on making permanent appointments, appointments may only be made on a fixed term or specified purpose contract basis".

Anyone else get called for this? Any idea what to expect in an interview?

Me too! Have the interview on Tuesday, they are interviewing the top 20 as far as I know for Grade 3 and 4. No idea what they are going to ask! Just trying to go through my application form and make sure I know everything.

Out of interest where were you placed in the assessment?

Just wondering if anyone who had an interview has heard anything yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19 ColKel

Nothing yet..............they said it would be early this week. Ah well, i'm sure we'll hear something next week.

How did your interview go Upsy Daisy? Not sure that mine went that well.............:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 50 ✭✭Upsy_Daisy

My interview went really well (well I think it did not sure what the panel felt), I was surprised at how formal it was with 4 people interviewing especially in comparison to the inteviews to get on the grade 3 permanent panel, but I suppose they want the best thats out there and they know that once people take on the job no matter how qualified they are unlikely to leave.

No havent heard a thing either, glad to hear it isnt just me!

They did say early this week, but it did take quite a while to get called for interview so I guess we just have to wait and see!

Glad your interview went well anyhow, thought mine was ok, not the greatest interview I did but nothing I can do about it now!

Id say there is serious competition for the jobs, it was a very formal interview alright, but I suppose with all the applicants it must be hard to pick people!

Very best of luck to everyone anyhow :)
