Back To School Allowance

Will the Back to School Allowance be back this year or was it one of the "cuts".

Also if it is when will the forms be available and from where - and who is running it this year - Community Welfare Officer or the HSE

I think it is still through the local CWO, I looked this up and it gives you a bit of info, its still to be advised on when to apply. At least it has not been cut I guess!

I rang this no 1890 66 22 44 last week and was told if you got the allowance last year forms would be sent straight out to you this year (no sign of them yet), as of today the website has been updated with info on where to send the forms but no way to download them, it seems like community welfare is dealing with most of country but Dublin,Kildare have to apply to a p.o. box http://communitywelfareservice.ie/cws_public/content/back-school-clothing-and-footwear-scheme-application-arrangements

Hi there, i got my form this morning and it seems that they are now operating from West Cork Technology Park in Clonakilty, they have a number, 1890 252973, but its not operational until 12th July!! As was previously stated if you got the allowance last year, you will automatically get the form this year..

Rate of payment as follows: Child born on or between:

01/10/1998 and 30/09/2008-€200
01/10/1987 and 30/09/1998-€305

If your child was born on or after 01/10/1998 and is going to secondary school in September this year, you may claim payment at the higher rate, evidence needs to be provided of said enrolment.

The form arrived yesterday morning - it's not being dealt with by the Health Centre but directly (as last year) by the HSE. The form said to expect to wait 6 weeks due to the high applications.

Has anyone received theirs yet? I live in Galway, i tried calling the number of all the counties but they aren't answering the phone..When are they suppose to let us know?

I got mine about 3 weeks ago and my sister who is in Laois got hers 2 days ago, so u should hear something soon (hopefully)

From what I can understand the CWO has handed over all payments of the BSA to Social Welfare, during this tranisition period sombody made a complete balls up and now there is a 6/8 week delay in payment. so don't be expecting payment this side of the start of school term. We were told if we received the BSA last year we would be entitled to it this year (if circumstances didn't change), Now it looks like October before the cheque arrives :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:
