was on my way home last night ,came down the howth road where the beachcomber is and in front of me was one of those new peugeot people carriers ,going extremely slow and swaying a small bit into the wrong side of the road ,but then to my supprise the car went right over to the other side of the road stayed there for ages i gave them a few flashes but no response ,a taxi then came around the corner and i thought thats gonna end nasty but luckily the taxi was able to avoid it and the people carrier got back to correct side of the road and then turned left at the traffic island for clontarf when i got past there was a rerally old lady in the passenger seat

so i dont know if this was a drunk ,or maybe an old person in trouble ,or just someone who should never have been let behind the wheel of any car

anyway hope they got home safe

You could call the local Garda station or Traffic Watch on 1890 205 805 in future to report it, maybe even follow them till the Garda get there :)

I wonder is there a number you can ring to get through to the local station? Wouldn't want to be ringing 999 for something minor.

I have the traffic watch number and the local of where I live in my phone alright, but if I was driving through somewhere, it'd be handy to be able to ring a number who could put you through to the local of where you are :)

Try driving the roads between Macroom and Kenmare - I got to play the "Old or Drunk or Both?" guessing game nearly every trip. Never bothered reporting them, I'm sure the local passport-delivering,medical-card-getting, funeral-attending cute hoor would have them back on the road in no time. Old people vote don't you know...

Probably fell asleep. Someone alseep at the wheel coming the other way almost hit me head on once after completely drifting onto the wrong side. Enthusiastic beeping woke her up just in time. She was in shock when she woke judging by the look on her face. All happened in seconds.

I've been in that position before, but just use 999.
I know we all think of it as an emergency number but the fact is its the best way to get in touch with the cops at short notice. Reporting someone driving on the wrong side of the road merits its use tbh.

My Girlfriend was mugged at an atm and rang me on other end of the country in a right state, told her to ring 999 and the cops were on the scene pretty quick to help.

So in short, you don't have to be on fire before you dial 999
