Looking for a bit of feedback on a new song we are recording

    Hi there,
    We're looking for a bit of feedback on a new song we are recording at the moment. The song itself is very political and we just wanna make sure it makes at least some sort of sense. What we'd be interested in hearing back would be thoughts on the lyrics, (are they cohesive, make sense, accurate etc.), how the overall song comes across (enough passion, if it keeps your interest till the end, or basically if there is anything you think we should change to make it better..) and any other feedback you can give. The more critically constructive the better. Just to keep in mind too though, that the song has not been properly mixed yet, so some levels may sound a little out, particularly the vocals through the heavy part of the chorus. Anyway, if can spare 5 minutes and a few opinions we would be very grateful. And sure you maybe will even enjoy the song. Its called "Our Land", here's the link:

    I'm gonna be completely honest.

    Lyrically, it's very simplistic and has the feel of a teenager year old writing poetry in their bedroom...just in the sense that it's full of angst but is completely unambiguous- there's nothing challenging there, nothing that's open for interpretation.

    Musically, it's not bad. The vocalist is pretty strong and the tune itself is quite catchy. At five minutes though, it's maybe a little bit long and if you're trying to capture peoples' attention, a shorter song might be a better option.

    I really hope that doesn't come across as mean or anything, it's just an honest assessment. All the best with your project.

    Hey no worries about coming across as mean or anything, the whole reason the thread was put up there was to get honest opinions and thoughts back on the song. Thanks for actually taking the time to listen to it.

    Yes, it probably is very simplistic and unambiguous. Thats partly the whole point of the song though, in that we wanted to make it as clear as we possibly could, that the government and the people in power who run this country, are rotten to the core and that we should be angry about this. Again thats probably very obvious for anyone who even has a passing interest in politics, so you may be right that we could make it a bit more challenging. I guess we probably need to find out the target audience this type of song would appeal to most.
